The city of New Orleans, like most American cities, has gone through extraordinary changes over the last several months. Legendary restaurants, historical sites, and local mainstays have been faced with nearly insurmountable odds, but overcoming those odds is what makes New Orleans special. We are a city of rebirth, and from hard times come our best times. In the spirit of our motto – Laissez les bon temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!) – Tastebud Tours wants to get the good times rolling, again. New Orleans has endured times like this before, and even though we have lost several businesses, we hope to celebrate and cherish those that remain with you. Tastebud Tours highlights what is quintessential New Orleans – Great food and history. We do this by offering the top-rated food tours in New Orleans, a walk through the heart of the French Quarter as you eat your way through almost 300 years of culinary history.

We hope you join us on our newest offering, “The Best of Tastebud Tours.” We have curated a 3 to 3.5 hour tour stopping at some of the best local restaurants to enjoy the foods that make New Orleans cuisine one of the best in the world. Our tour will stop at a neighborhood po’boy joint for a po’boy, and a Bourbon Street balcony restaurant for traditional cajun jambalaya. You’ll get creole shrimp remoulade at an elegant Royal Street “Grande Dame,” and rich, savory gumbo at a contemporary bistro. We finish the evening with pralines at New Orleans oldest candy kitchen to end on a sweet note (with a discount for shopping!)

Your health and safety is our primary concern, and while New Orleans has stringent health mandates to regulate all tours, Tastebud Tours has met those mandates and gone further to protect our guests. The city requires all guests to wear face masks or face shields at all times, except when eating. Guests must provide their own face covering. Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to in the restaurants. All food and drink must be consumed on premises. Your guide will have hand sanitizer available for you upon request. Our guides adhere to these policies and are held to a high standard for hygiene and promoting good practices to keep our guests healthy.

This tour starts in front of the “Head to Toe” fashion shop located at 816 Decatur St, New Orleans. A Tastebud Tours sign will be in the window to confirm you are at the right address.

The Tour Stops at These Classic Culinary Favorites

New Orleans Creole Cookery
You have to try the famous Chicken and Sausage Gumbo at the New Orleans Creole Cookery. You haven’t experienced New Orleans until you’ve stepped into this iconic eatery, courtesy of A.J. and Anna Tusa of the famous New Orleans Tusa restaurant family. The Cookery promises a shot of new generation energy combined with the city’s most treasured cooking traditions in a setting that really speaks to the way people dine today.

Court of Two Sisters
Home of the only daily jazz brunch in town, Court of Two Sisters is famed for its beautiful wisteria-blanketed courtyard and bubbling fountains. This two-centuries-old restaurant is steeped in history, and is the perfect destination for all visitors to the Crescent City. Treat your tastebuds to Shrimp Remoulade. Local brews are also available should you want to enjoy one with your tasting.

Nola Po-Boy
Entrepreneur Murray Tate opened NOLA Po-Boy after Hurricane Katrina devastated the City of New Orleans. At that time, there were almost no restaurants open. During the first Jazz & Heritage Festival after Katrina, a food critic for the Gambit Weekly gave Murray a glowing review and the rest was history. Sink your teeth into an outstanding Beef Po-Boy with all of its classic fixings!

Cornet Restaurant
Experience the local flavor and legendary taste at the Cornet Restaurant, home of the largest balcony on Bourbon Street! Located on the corner of Bourbon and St. Peters streets in the heart of the French Quarter, Cornet serves authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine inspired by the cradle of jazz. The restaurant was founded by the family who gave Louis Armstrong his first horn, a cornet. The menu has been designed to celebrate the sounds and flavors of New Orleans. Get your tastebuds ready for famous jambalaya. You may want to purchase a special drink for this balcony experience!

Laura’s Pralines and Candies
Nestled in the historic French Quarter, the made-fresh Creole pralines and hand-dipped chocolates are the results of recipes that date all the way back to the 18th century. End this tour on a sweet note at New Orleans’ oldest candy store! You can look forward to our special surprise to take along with you once your tour is over!
